TRUSTING GOD IN EVERY SEASON-OUTLINE

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

What Does It Mean to Trust in the Lord?

Psalm 28:7 - “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.”

1. Trust Requires Surrender

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

2. Trust Means Letting Go of Our Understanding

“…and lean not on your own understanding…”

Isaiah 55:8–9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Trust means surrendering the need to figure it all out.

Matthew 6:34 - Jesus teaches this from the sermon on the mount. "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

3. Trust Involves Obedience

“In all your ways submit to Him…”

Hebrews 11:8- By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

 Waiting, trusting and hoping are intricately connected!

4. Trust Leads to Divine Direction

“…and He will make your paths straight.”

Philippians 4:6–7- “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

How Can We Cultivate Trust?

• Pray continually
• Remember His faithfulness
• Meditate on His Word
• Surround ourself with people of faith

Trust is a daily choice.
