Campus: “a place with temporary accommodations of huts, tents, or other structures, typically used by soldiers, refugees, prisoners, or travelers.”
BE SPIRITUALLY NOT WORLDLY
“Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people….for you are still controlled by your sinful nature.” -1 Corinthians 3:1, 3 NLT
HOW ARE WE TO MAINTAIN UNITY AND HOW DOES OUR UNITY WORK TO GROW GOD’S HOUSE?
BE A CONDUIT FOR GOD’S GROWTH
“What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.” -1 Corinthians 3:7-9 NLT
BUILD CAREFULLY AND PURPOSEFULLY
“Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:10 NLT
WHY DOES HE SAY IT IS IMPORTANT TO BUILD CAREFULLY IN THE KINGDOM?
OUR BUILDING WILL BE TESTED
“On the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.” -1 Corinthians 3:13 NLT
“If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 15 But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.” -1 Corinthians 3:14-15 NLT
WE BUILD TOGETHER.
“Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.” -1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NLT
“Who do you say that I am?” Peter responded, “You are Messiah, the Son of the Living God.” -Matthew 16:15-16 NLT
“Upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.” -Matthew 16:18 NLT
“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, 25 and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. 26 From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
27 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and exist.” -Acts 17:24-28 NLT
